Workshops are open to all educators.  Explore new curriculum, participate in hands-on activities and build your knowledge of the natural world.  Workshops are available at the Greenville Zoo. Each professional development session is available for continuing education credits or professional development growth points.

Wild Design

Participants will uncover techniques in developing a STEAM unit in partnership with the Greenville Zoo.  Developing a curriculum that fits your school's needs, Wild Design uses a project based learning approach to incorporate multiple subjects into building your own zoo.  Did you know planning a zoo incorporates genetics, wildlife biology, engineering, accounting, and graphic design?  Discover how you can tie all these and more into one unit.

NatureStart Course

The Chicago Zoological Society has selected Greenville Zoo to be the regional training sight for early childhood educators in NatureStart™ . Participants must complete all three in person training sessions to receive certificate of completion for over 18 hours of professional development.

Young children learn through play. The Chicago Zoological Society’s NatureStart™ model uses children’s innate curiosity about the natural world as a way to foster learning. By inviting children to explore and play in the natural world, they gain knowledge and skills, and become inspired to protect their planet and its inhabitants.
