Visit the zoo without ever leaving your classroom! The Greenville Zoo broadcasts
videoconferencing programs directly from our classroom to yours and incorporates
a variety of hands-on activities in every class.
Who: Kindergarten – Grade 12
Where: At your school. The Greenville Zoo distance learning programs
broadcasts at a minimum speed of 384 kbps or higher. The zoo currently connects
through IP technology.
When: Monday through Friday, year round
Time: Flexible. Each session is from 30 minutes – 60 minutes in
length depending on the grade level.
Cost: $100 per program session. Due to the popularity of these
programs, please reserve at least three weeks in advance. Payment is due prior
to the program.

activities, vocabulary words, and information regarding the program once your
requested date/program has been confirmed.

Grade K5, approximately 30 minutes
About Animals
This class gets down to the animal basics: their needs, senses and
characteristics. We will also cover what makes an animal an appropriate (or
inappropriate) pet.
Animal Locomotion
Students will explore how animals move. Children will meet animals that walk,
crawl, and fly. They will even try some moves themselves. Provider will also
present live animals to enhance the presentation.
Grade 1, approximately 30 minutes
Green Kingdom
Do you think all plants are alike? Plants are all around us. We see them
everyday. We will discuss how plants are beneficial to both animals and people.
Grade 2, approximately 30 minutes
Everybody Needs a Home
Nests, burrows, a pile of rocks...every animal needs a home, but how do they
find one?
Animal Kingdom
Students will compare "invertebrates" to "vertebrates" with an emphasis on the
five vertebrate classes.

Chain of Life
Students learn how animals are built to eat, what they do, and how animals rely
on one another for their own survival in the chain of life.
