Zookeeping Kids 8-11 Year Olds
Classes are designed to inspire the next generation of zookeepers! Students ages 8 - 11 will experience what it is like to work at the zoo through games, activities, experiments, chats with zookeepers, and up-close animal encounters. Program length is 2 hours from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.

Member Price: $20 per class
Non-member Price: $30 per class
Know Before You Go!
- Please send students to class with a water bottle and a snack that does not contain nut products.
- Please dress students in weather appropriate attire with close-toed shoes.
- Classes will only be cancelled if the zoo is required to close to the public.
January 21st – Snakes Need Check-Ups Too!
How do you measure the oxygen levels of an orangutan? How do you make sure a snake is healthy? How do you take blood samples from a lion? We’ll learn all of this and so much more through experiments, games, a tour of the vet office, and even a special guest talk with our own zoo vet!
February 25th – Art of the Job.
The animals aren’t the only artists in the zoo! Join us as we observe our animals, draw them, and discover more about their amazing anatomy.
March 25th – Lion’s and tigers and bears, oh my!
There are seven dangerous animals at the zoo. Can you name them all? What happens if one of them escapes? Join us as we discover what to do, who to call, and how to stay calm during an animal escape!
April 29th – Tools of the Trade.
Can you clean, feed, train, clean, and feed again before the end of the day? With the right tools, you can! Come learn about these tools, race your friends, and try your hand at using them.
May 20th at 7:00pm – What do the Animals Doo All Night?
Does someone stay with the animals at night? Where do the animals sleep? Join us in your pajamas to watch the nocturnal animals and say good night to all the animals who live at the Greenville Zoo.
