Coral

Who: Force Blue
What: Coral (Vulnerable to Endangered)
Where: Coral Reef, Florida; Global
Why: Coral reefs support 4,000 species of fish, 700 species of coral and thousands of other plants and animals. About 25% of the ocean's fish depend on healthy coral reefs. Over fishing, ocean acidification and pollution are major threats to coral reef survival. Force Blue works to rescue, restore and preserve the vitally important, critically threatened Florida Coral Reef Tract - the third largest coral reef system in the world and the only coral reef system in the continental United States. In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in 2017, Force Blue operated under the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to assist with emergency coral reef recovery and restoration efforts, and provided critical triage, assessment and emergency restoration to hurricane-damaged reefs.

With a team of the most highly skilled individuals within the veteran Spec Ops community, Force Blue works to rescue, restore and preserve the vitally important, critically threatened Florida Coral Reef Tract and assists with emergency coral reef recovery and restoration efforts to hurricane-damaged reefs.
